Gain 5/30/11

I took a few moments this fine memorial night and read over Mr. Warrick two cents worth.  The particular post I related to the most or connected too was the post titled, "Six Reason Why Textbook Should Stop Being Textbooks."  He was commenting on an original post done by a guest blogger.  She injected her thoughts on why textbooks should go tablet or digital.  Mr. Warrick concurred that notion and got some flack for his comments.

What I found interesting and agreed with is the notion that money still is the driving force in most situations as well as, and probably more so in the education system.  I am one who believes less is more and in this case less paper being used will provide a lot more of many things.  We waste time, space, and resources on unnecessary object.  I am one who sees the need for books in general.  I am not a full fledged tech guy.  But I do believe in balance and in this particular situation we need to use technology to balance the amount of waste.  So I say keep on the challenging the norms that need to be challanged.
